Get Grounded

“I’m feeling really grounded today”.

We’ve all said or heard that, but what does it actually mean? Why use the word “grounded”? Well, at the most surface level we’re simply expressing a feeling of balance and stability, that we are feeling solid and secure in ourselves within time and space in that moment. But, the word ground is significant as we are communicating a feeling of being strongly connected to the ground beneath our feet. And though it’s easy to forget and we far too often do, that ground is The Earth. 

That’s what grounding is, simply connecting to The Earth.

And it’s one proper powerful yet practical health and wellbeing practice.

The Dis-ease Of Busyness

“I’m too busy”. The axiom of our time. In this ever more “connected” world of apps for everything embedded in the morass of social media and gold rush for the commodity called our attention it’s no wonder we feel “too busy”.

Too busy to eat (let alone cook), too busy to sleep, too busy to exercise, too busy to see people we tell ourselves are important to us, too busy to relax, to busy to take care of ourselves, too busy to have fun and enjoy life. This is the dis-ease of busyness and it’s something you, me, we and us as society need to start taking very seriously. Because if “everything that’s good is bad and everything that’s bad is good”, everything is, if it hasn’t already, going to get bad.

You Are What You Consume

“You are what you eat”. I’m sure you’ve heard this before. Which is by no means a knock, that’s as true a truism as there is. The expression of your being, from your health, how you feel and how you think, is a direct result of the food you consume. Heard of serotonin, the neurotransmitter that anti-depressanst are based on? It’s produced in your gut by the bacteria that break down food, not in your brain.

But today isn’t about food. It’s about consuming. Because when it comes to your health and wellbeing, consumption extends far beyond the boundaries of your dinner plate.  “You are what you eat”, sure. But really….

WHEN, Not What

Health, Time Restricted Eating

Keto. Paleo. Atkins. Raw. Banting. Low-carb. FODMAP. Potato. Vegetarian. Pescatarian. Vegan. Carnivore. And that’s just right off the top of my head. There are tons of diet protocols. And wars fought between their acolytes. Some diets stick around, more come and go. 

There is however a connecting thread that runs through all of them, from the extreme of only plants to the other extremity of only meat. They all concern themselves with what to eat.

But good health is not only about what to eat, or how much.

It’s about WHEN to eat.
